Declutter all those battered old Christmas wreaths that are too tired for the front door

There’s something special.

Isn’t there?

About welcoming people into our home.

And we want our homes to be inviting.

We want family and friends and neighbours – even strangers – to know our door is open to them.

And a Christmas wreath  – or some such – on the door is a lovely way to say “come in”.

But are our doors truly open?

Or has has clutter become a barricade?

Keeping friends out.

BECAUSE we’re ashamed.

Deep down.

Of the great piles of stuff everywhere.

Of the mess.

Of the general grubbiness when it’s so hard to clean even vaguely.

Never mind properly.

I have to put my hand up here.

And say this WAS me.

DESPITE the wreath on my door.

Friends were NOT welcome any time.

And the promise of a visit induced panic.

And excuses.

So today let’s take just a little time.

To remember.

How much we want to be welcoming.

And let go of any tired and forgotten Christmas wreaths and door decorations stuffed away in our Christmas boxes that do anything but say “come in …”

If you’re following along with my quick daily declutter, read on. BUT if you’re new do hop back and read how just 10 things can help you declutter easily.

Just 10 Things  – Christmas Wreaths

Now this is one of my just 10 things categories where some people will have lots.

But you might not have much.

If anything to let go.

I just had a broken ring.

And a few bedraggled decorations.

But DO use today as a chance to reflect.

Clutter causes pain in so many ways.

BUT keeping friends out is perhaps the cruelest.

Remembering how much we long to welcome friends in, is a wonderfully powerful motivation to let go of as much clutter as we can BEFORE Christmas.

AND to make sure Christmas doesn’t bring more in.

If you think you will have some Christmas wreaths or door decorations to let go then stick to the just 10 things rules:

  • Take 5 minutes or so, 15 minutes max
  • Focus on Christmas wreaths
  • Open your eyes to those that are too tired to use again
  • And without yanking stuff out
  • Spot any you’re ready to let go

Keeping your eyes peeled for …

  1. Wreaths
  2. Garlands
  3. Artificial flowers
  4. Artificial leaf sprays
  5. Artificial berries
  6. Wire wreath rings
  7. Polystyrene rings
  8. Wicker rings
  9. Oasis rings
  10. Wreath decorations
