Dusting's pretty simple right? So why have we all got so many products and polishes cluttering up the cleaning cupboard. Keep it simple, let them go ... #declutter #cleaning #organize

Dust breeds doesn’t it?

Turn your back for a moment.

It appears.

So a BIG range of dusting tools.

Especially all those fancy sprays.

They are a MUST.

Aren’t they?

Errr …. NOT so much.

In fact.

Do you know what the biggest cause of dust is.

In our increasingly dusty homes?

Yep. You got it. It’s CLUTTER.

Clutter under beds.

Clutter on top of wardrobes.

Clutter lying in a random heap on the floor.

It makes dust. Lots of it.

Enough to cause health problems!

So today we’re going to tackle our clutter problem AND our dust problem by ditching our dusting clutter 😉

If you’re following along with my quick daily declutter, read on. BUT if you’re new do hop back and read how just 10 things can help you declutter easily.

Just 10 Things  – Dusting

As always we’ll stick to the just 10 things rules:

  • Take 5 minutes or so, 15 minutes max
  • Focus on dusting stuff
  • Open our eyes to fancy unused polishes & broken bedraggled dusters
  • And without yanking stuff out
  • Spot any we’re ready to let go

And keep your eyes peeled for these …

  1. Dusters
  2. Extendable duster
  3. Feather duster
  4. Dusting spray
  5. Furniture polishing spray
  6. Furniture wax
  7. Furniture wipes
  8. Silver polish
  9. Brass polish
  10. Stain remover powders

If you don’t want to bin them, freecycle groups on Facebook are a good place to pass them on.

You might feel a moment of panic.

As you let go.

Surely I must need them …

BUT remember.

The marketing machine manufactures needs.

So we keep spending our hard earned cash on their stuff.

By clearing our clutter every day we make it easier and easier to wizz round with  a basic duster  and conquer the dust!

A Little Nudge

We all pay a big price for clutter.

It costs us money.

Makes us miserable.

And hurts our families.

BUT it also hurts our health.

We’ve become obsessed with germs.

And spray chemicals everywhere.

But dust in our homes is a big health issue.

Allergies and asthma are just some of the things clutter dust can trigger.

Clutter creeps into our homes – mostly – a little bit of a time.

A toy here. A book there. A pair of shoes. New shampoo. The weekend papers. Marketing mail. Kids art work.

So they’re hard to resist.

OR make a fuss about.

BUT together ALL those little things make it impossible to stay on top of dust.

So as we let go of more and more every single day, we need to keep new clutter out.
